Bed Quilts
Please understand that these are all approximate sizes, for the size of the bed itself will determine the finished quilt size.
As always, any quilt you order from Patches of Grace can be made specifically for you, to the desired size you want.
All quilts are made with 100% cotton fabric.
Batting is 100% cotton for maximized softness without drastic shrinkage.
All thread used, in piecing and quilting, is 100% cotton.
Below you will find the specifications for each bed quilt size, along with pictures of various quilts that I have made.
Twin Quilt
A twin bed quilt can range in size, depending on if you have a standard twin or an extra long one. Generally, most twin quilts fall within 64″ x 86″ and 72″ x 96″. Of course, a twin quilt can be made to specifically fit the mattress it will be used with in whatever combination the customer desires.
This was a fun quilt that I designed for a great young man, who loves all things marine! Below are close ups of the paper pieced sea creatures and the quilting.
“Play Ball” an original design.
“Whimsical Play” an original design.
“Maacah’s Dreams” an original design.
Full or Double Quilt
A full or double quilt will generally be between 70″ x 88” and 88” x 100″.
“Damaris’s Stars”
This was a fun quilt I designed based on the desired elements of a sweet little girl. Below are close ups of the paper pieced critters in the quilt and the quilting.
This is the back of her quilt, which her mother wanted as a possible change when she gets older.
Queen Quilt
A queen quilt will generally be between 88″ x 94″ and 99″ x 108″. A queen quilt that is wanted for a water bed will generally be 76″ x 104″.
“For the Bride & Groom”. 6 favorite scripture verses, chosen by the bride and groom, were quilted into this quilt. The fruits of the Spirit were also quilted into this quilt, in the white blank spaces seen in the 1st photo.
This was made with the “Swoon” pattern, but Camille Roskelly.
King Quilt
The size of a king quilt is a square, for the size and length are of equal proportions. The standard size of a king quilt is generally between 94” x 94” and 108” x 108”. A king quilt that is wanted for a water bed will generally be 88″ x 94″. A quilt that is wanted for a California king will generally be between 98” x 114” and 100” x 117”.
“My Mother’s Swoon”
“The Giant Swoon”
Perhaps you would prefer to custom size a quilt for a specific bed. Below is how you will determine the size of the quilt:
- Measure the mattress: length, width, and depth. Most standard mattresses measure 8″ –12” while the newer deeper ones can measure up to 20″.
- Add to each measurement the amount of drop you would like down the side of the bed. Do you want it to the floor? To the bottom of the top mattress? To the bottom of the box spring?
- Remember to add a pillow tuck if you want a portion of the quilt to tuck under the pillows, and then carry on over top of the pillows. This measurement will depend on the depth of the pillows and how much of a pillow tuck is desired.
Depending on the quilt pattern you are using, your borders could be the drop off the side of the bed. For example, if you want a 15″ drop, I will add a 15″ border to your quilt top.
