My mother came to stay with us for the month of July. It had been 2 1/2 years since we’d seen each other and it was so good to have her here! I don’t think my husband had that opinion, but he did alright. The children had a BALL with her!!
The first week she was here, was summer camp and she helped me in the kitchen. It was so nice to work side by side again. That hasn’t happened in a loooong time! It was good that she got to see some of the ministry we do here and she got to know some of the kids. She is thinking of moving here at some point in the future, so having an idea of how things are/go is a good thing.
She helped us do the floor, which was an added bonus! She had asked me what projects I would like her to help with and at that time, I didn’t have any. But by the time she got here, we had bought the flooring and having her help made that project go so much smoother.
We had some wonderful times at the lake, which the children enjoyed immensely! They are like fish and take to water quite easily.
I think the best part of all, however, was the relationships that were grown between her and the children. Nathaniel, Damaris and Caleb didn’t have any memory of her (Damaris is was 2 months old when my mother was last here), so getting to know them, and them getting to know her, was a joy to see. The day after she left, Caleb crawled around to all the rooms, looking into them, then moving on the the next room. I think he was looking for her! So sweet!!
I miss my mom. It’s been a week now since she went back home and while it’s good to have our routine back, I still miss her presence.
Some day, Lord willing, she will be much closer. Some day….
