I didn’t accomplish much sewing over the summer, but I did manage to start some new projects. Oopps!! I haven’t done one of these W(orks)I(n)P(rogress) lists in quite some time, so I think mow would be a good time to do so. As always, this WIP post is linked to Freshly Pieced.
But first, I want to show you some improvements that I’ve made in my sewing area. I have a wall in the dining room where my sewing desk, my cutting table, and my various projects live. This works quite well for me, for this set up allows me to get things done while still being able to keep an eye on everyone. In this house hold, if I were tucked away in another room (such as a room dedicated just to my sewing junk items), it would either be a disaster or I’d never be in there! (My cutting table is now on the other side of my desk, otherwise everything is the same for now.)
Because I’m limited in space, I need to be creative with how I use it. For quite some time, I wanted a way where I could see, at a glance, the projects I have going.. After much thought and shopping, I decided on these shelves that were designed as a shoe rack. But they work great as these shelves!
Each project is on it;’s own tray, so there is no confusion and mixing up of pieces.
Now that that is out of the way, here is my WIP list:
1. Finish the floor pillows for my daughters (3). I’m using the Star Surround pattern from Happy Quilting/ The floor pillows are based on this idea from Crazy mom Quilts.
2. Finish the floor pillows for my sons. The pattern is Round n’ round from Camille Roskelly.
3. Baste, quilt and bind our Swoon quilt. (You can see it hanging in the upper left corner of the bay window in the top photo)
4. Finish quilting and binding a toddler quilt for a cousin’s son.
5. Make my 5th weekender for my SIL.
6. Make something (wall quilt, table topper, or lap quilt) for my mother using orphaned blocks.
7. Make the quilt top, quilt it, and send off the September INSPRIE, Do good stitches charity bee. I am the quilter for Sept., and I choose these colors from Design Seeds (a FABULOUS place to find color palettes. Seriously! Go check it out!!))
and this block from 13 Spools.
7. A jumper for me and a dress for my 10 yr old. Considering I cut these out in the Spring, it would probably be a good idea to get them done before Winter.
An ambitious list for sure. And to think that I didn’t list everything….!
That’s a whole lot of work you got going on. Good luck getting it all finished.
