Adam has long since teased me that I take more pictures of fabrics (along with the finished products of said fabrics) then I do of our children. That’s not really true, … I think. But, to keep things real and to encourage me to show him wrong capture the many memories of my children, I am endeavoring to take pictures of them through out the week. Please keep in mind that I don’t have a smart phone. I have a dumb one. One without a camera even. So I really have to make an effort to not only remember to use the camera , but to know where it is. And that it is with in grabbing distance.
Also, it really wouldn’t be very fair, at least in the realm of keeping it real, if I didn’t include random pictures of the things we did that week. Because, if you know me, then you know I am very random.
I am advertising my skills as a quilt maker. So I made a Face Book page and a website about my new business. It’s still in the construction mode, but it’s getting there!
We bought a new (to us) van at the beginning of the month. It’s a nice looking one, too. So we decided it was time to get some magnetic signs for Adams’ van. We bought 3 of them: one for each sliding door and one for the back. We also bought large stickers that go on the sliding door windows.
But I forgot to take a picture of those. You will see a pattern of this.
I’m still plugging away at the items I’m going to be selling at the craft fair in November. To date, I have made 11 key fobs (in the picture bellow), 5 sets of coasters (4 coaster in each set), 2 sets of 14” pillows, 1 large 18” pillow, a purse, and 10 journal covers. I still have the makeup rolls ( 6 ), the makeup roll extenders (6), and 8 more purses to do.
Along with 2 quilts that need to be quilted/bound to show at the fair. (One of those I got almost completed last night! Woohoo!!!) I am wanting to take a baby quilt, a lap size quilt, and a twin size quilt with me. Not to sell, but to showcase my quilting abilities.
Here is my favorite journal cover. Can you guess what I was trying to create?
Here is Damaris’s. I love hers too! I’m a sucker for things in color order!!
My children LOVE crafts! So I made them so home made finger painting (a la this recipe) and they had a blast with it! All I had was cake decorating coloring, but it worked very well. We had all the colors of the rainbow represented. They used sheet pans to paint on since that’s what we had on hand.
I finally got to some of the mending I had waiting for me. I didn’t get to all of it because…. well… when I was done with what I did, I was really done.! I hate mending. I would so much rather make a new garment then mend an old one. But, I also hate to waste money. The majority of the mending I did was put patches on the boys pants. They were just fine except the knees were blown out of them!
There were some other items thrown in there, just to make me feel a little better about getting things done other than pants!
On Saturday morning, this is what my laundry room looked like. To the untrained eye, this looks like a lot of laundry.
Okay, to the trained eye it looks like a lot of laundry too. But the good thing is: these are CLEAN clothes. Which translated into not much dirty clothes in the other baskets. (This is a peak into my “laundry system”, if you can call putting each child’s clean clothes into a basket and telling them, or their buddy in the case of Caleb, to come and put them away.).
We’ve also been busy with making products for the catering business to sell at the same craft fair. We will be selling our nut butters, nut butter cups, a chocolate topping (like a fudge sauce. Only it’s not fudge.), possibly our granola, and Adam’s “special house blend” of spices Or whatever we decided on naming it.
Can I help it if my son is so cute I love to take his picture?
Sometimes, you just need to nap! “Please Sir. Can I have some more?”
You just never know what’s going to be found on the card in the camera.
We took a new family photo. Even with Maacah’s eyes closed, this is the best one.
And last, but not least, I made an apple pie today. It was voted upon and decided that I should make a lattice crust top, instead of the “regular” kind. I haven’t made one in a few months and it sure tasted good!
