I told Adam the other day that I was working on my WIPs. “Oh,” he said. “Are the children being that naughty?” he he he No, I had to explain, after giggling some, the WIPs I’m talking about are my Works In Progress. We all have those. And with UFO Sunday with Leah Day, I’m going to tackle these for sure!
WIP Wednesday is a linky party with Lee at Freshly Pieced where we talk about the things we are working on. And yes, it is always “things” instead of “thing”. (click the picture to visit the other WIPs in progress)
So this, I’ve been working on:
My Shattered Prism quilt (aka Bottled Rainbows)
These are blocks I have done (out of 16) These are the ones still left to do
When I started this project last summer (2011), I had someone in mind. But I have since decided to keep this one, for my children love to snuggle on the couch during the winter months. I don’t like it when they bring their bed blankets down stairs, only to leave them around and such. My solution is to make some lap quilts that stay down here. This will be one of them.
My Granny Squares quilt
I started another downstairs-only lap quilt. I had received 3 Thangles bundles from my MIL. One of them went for Grace and one of them went for Maacah. I didn’t want to do another Thangles pattern, so I used the strips for a Granny Square quilt. I used the tutorial from Katy, only I used 2.5” x WOF strips instead of fat quarters.
I have 20 squares done and I’ll put the sashing on next.
An embroidered quilt
I am making a quilt with embroidered squares for a special person in my family. I’ve been working on this, S.L.O.W.L.Y., since last October. Each person in our family will have square with their name and something unique about them embroidered. Example: My daughter Maacah LOVES horses, so her name has a horse scene on it (shown in the bottom left of the left picture). This is an older picture and I have 3 or 4 done since it was taken. There are 20 total, so I think I have bout 10 or more left to do. The picture on the left is of the various material that will be the (from bottom to top) border, backing, sashing, and setting squares (the border and sashing material are the same color).
And so that is what I’m working this week. Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
