I made a quilt for Grace’s 9thbirthday. This is the 1st quilt that I’ve made that’s staying in this house. I like that!!
The fabric for the squares, the borders around the squares, and the back is a flannel I had in my stash (sorry for the poor picture. Remember: I’m a seamstress/quilter, not a photographer!) Of course, true to form, I messed up on all but 2 of them, so they don’t look like they “should”. But if you can’t tell, why should I? (Although anyone with working eyes can pick them out!) The pink in the middle, the orange border, and the print border fabric are the only fabric I bought from the store.
I quilted around the squares to look like she had doodled on them. It was quite fun to just “let go” and not worry about having it all match and be symmetrical.
This was my first time making Dresden Plates and I really like how they turned out! I had enough of the fabric strips left over for 2 plates. She loves them!
I put something special in the middle, just for her. Can you find it?
I thought the bright, sunny colors would look amazing in the sunlit snow, with Grandpa’s tractor as a back drop.
And, of course, what quilt is complete with out a label (of sorts)? This was my first time writing with free motion quilting. It’s not as difficult as I thought it would be.
I’m surprised at the feeling of satisfaction I get when I see her all rolled up in it. I really enjoyed making this for her. I’m currently working on Maacah’s quilt (I have 20 days to finish it). The 2 quilts are just as different as those 2 girls are. You’ll see! You can see it here!
I’m linking up to Stitched in Color’s “Festival of Scrappiness”
Your quilt is beautiful and it looks like she really likes it!
