The girls were in need of some new dresses and jumpers. Since we only have Wal*Mart as an option for material (I’m not counting the quilting store), and the prints there are… shall we say… not to my taste, we decided to order some material online, from Gehman Country Fabrics. They sell Tropical Breeze (a 60% cotton/40% poly blend), 100% poly, Rose Cottage fabrics (another blend), and a few others. We buy the Tropical Breeze because it looks and feels like cotton, but has the stain resistance and durability of polyester, both are good factors when you desire your children’s clothing to last at least through 2 children.
Both Maacah and Grace got to pick out what material they wanted and I’m in the process of getting them all done. When all is said and done, Maacah will have 1 dress and 3 jumpers, Grace will have 1 dress and 2 jumpers, and Damaris has 1 dress (okay, so Damaris doesn’t need a new dress, but it was matching her sisters! I had to get it, it tell you!! )
Here they are. Aren’t they so pretty? (the girls, not just the dresses)
according to Grace, I went “fancy” and added ribbon to their dresses. Maacah’s dress reminds me of a fresh picked Granny Smith apple. What do you think?
I love the color of Grace’s dress, as well. Even though they didn’t pick out the colors with Fall in mind, I think they “go” quite well. We have many wonderful foods being harvested during the fall. Beautiful purple grapes are one of them!
The color peach is often times thought of during the summer. But did you realize that the color peach is also found in the changing leaves?
Beautiful, isn’t it?! More close ups of the details.
And here is the back view. They are all similar in construction and design. Maacah and Grace’s dresses are from this pattern by The Kings Daughters and Damaris’s dress is from this Burda pattern.
* I am quite handy with a sewing machine and needle. Not so much with the camera. Sorry!*
These dresses have also been entered into the “Celebrate Color” event under the “wearables” category. There are so many fabulous entries! If you haven’t already gone there, you really should check it out!
Sweet!
Oh how pretty everyone looks! 🙂
We just got their new catalog.
We can not believe how much they are growing up!
Turning into lil-maidens! 🙂
Sweet!
Does Momma have one to match…;)
Blessings~
Mayo’s
No, not this time (although I was sorely tempted!). Maacah is now only about 4″ shorter then me, sheesh!! 🙂
Good to hear from you. How are ya’ll doing?
Very sweet photos!
We are also enjoying fall here in St Louis. We had a very very long dry h o t summer. So hot, now that fall (the 70’s) is here, I feel like we really accomplished something! Very strange feeling. Accomplishing summer?
Thanks for the fabric recommend. We are really having a time trying to find fabric and would like to find a recommendation for a lightweight to medium denim… Any ideas?
Love, Debbie
