The theme for this Wednesday is “what doesn‘t work for me” So, here we go!
My mother taught my sister and I to sort the clothes before washing. You know, the whites in one pile, the medium colors in another, the darks over here …. and the jeans all by themselves. Some of the clothes are to be washed in cold water, some in warm. Then we have the sheets and towels that are to be washed in hot water. I’m sure she’s not the first or only one to sort the laundry. And I suppose it’s a good idea.
Except if your me. You see, I’m washing clothes for 7 people, at least twice a week, and it’s enough of a challenge of get all the clothes done, upstairs and put away in the same day. I’m not going to spend the time to sort the clothes in color coded piles. Kudos to those of you who do. I’m just not one of you.
I wash all clothes on cold, all together. I start with one bucket (we use those big plastic buckets with rope handles that you find at Stuff-mart) and go right down the line. I do use Spray-n-Wash on spots, though.
There you have it. Sorting clothes doesn’t work for me. Sorry Mom.
Travel on over to Rocks In My Dryer for other ideas that don’t work (for others, anyway).
